Same Old Tune - Additional Information

Dear Fellow Kawagamites,

In follow-up to my e-mail of December 12 (the main content of that e-mail is repeated below, for reference), I write to let you know that recording of the reunion song Same Old Tune is complete. The face plate for the discs is not yet done. I'm pleased with the recording.

I intend to wait another month to receive further orders before printing the disc, since I don't need a stack of discs that nobody wants.

Let me offer you a little encouragement to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!... yes, the cost of $7 may seem high for a single song, when you can download a popular song from the web for 99 cents, but, believe me, this is not a profit making venture. To put it in perspective... recording studio expenses were $450, and the old-fashioned costs of production, packaging and postage are on top of that. The effort and energy are free. I'm optimistic that it will be a worthy memento of our wonderful September reunion.

Dear Fellow Kawagamites,

I'm sure you shared my delight this past September, in returning to that magic island of our youth. Among your memories of the reunion you may recall the song Same Old Tune, which was written specifically for the occasion, and performed in the dining hall. Several people asked me if they could get a copy of that song, so I have recently been spending time in the studio to have it recorded professionally. I don't know how many of you would like to receive a copy of the CD, but since it will be a very limited printing, I'd like to know ahead of printing just how many copies to make.

8th Annual "Stella" Awards

STELLA AWARDS

Time once again to review the winners of the 8th Annual "Stella Awards". The Stella Awards are named after 81 year old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot coffee on herself and successfully sued McDonald's (in NM). That case inspired the Stella Awards for the most frivolous, ridiculous, successful lawsuits in the United States. Here are this year's winners:

Fifth Place (tie): Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving little toddler was Ms. Robertson's son.

Propecia Lowers The Reading On PSA Screening Tests, Even Though Risk Is Still There

(WebMD) The hair-loss drug Propecia lowers the reading on the PSA prostate cancer screening test, U.S. researchers find.

This means men on Propecia may have dangerously high PSA levels even if their test scores are in the normal range, the researchers say.

It's already known that Proscar — a drug for men with enlarged prostates — affects the PSA test.

Propecia is a low-dose version of Proscar — 1 mg of finasteride in Propecia, versus 5 mg in Proscar.

Does the low-dose drug have the same PSA effect as the high-dose drug?
